How do we speak and live from the heart of compassion?
Rev. Gihan Un-No has spent over a decade making his rural Japanese temple a welcoming space for all, from schoolchildren to elders, through meditation, community festivals, and seasonal nature events. Whether guiding children in sutra copying or hosting radio programs on Zen teachings, he embodies a life of gentle presence and accessible Dharma.
In this evening talk, Rev. Un-No will reflect on how cultivating gentleness in our speech and actions allows compassion to arise naturally. Drawing from his background as a former professional athlete, a long-time educator, and a Soto Zen dissemination teacher, he will share stories and practices that support a heart that is both tender and courageous.
