Compassion & Attunement with Frank Ostaseski
The New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care Buddhist Chaplaincy Training Program & the Village Zendo invite you to this evening talk. This evening talk will focus on compassion as the capacity in each of us to be sensitive in the care of others and ourself. True compassion knows through attunement serving as a companion to suffering. It expresses the gentleness, the kindness necessary for our soul to relax, to trust, to open. The real significance of compassion is not exactly about removing suffering but about cultivating our capacity to be with suffering. This increased tolerance for suffering allows us to set down our defenses. This unobstructed view allows us to look calmly and objectively, to see what actually creates our difficulty. To see the truth. Frank will be in New York to lead a program at the Open Center, September 29-30 . We are delighted to have him as a Visiting Teacher in the Buddhist Chaplaincy Training Program. His talk will be followed by a discussion on the pragmatic application of compassion.
